Community resources are resources that can improve the quality of life of an entire community in a particular area.

E.g. ponds, lakes, fresh air, clean environment, etc.

Under Article 48A of Directive principles of state policy, the government is under constitutional and moral obligation to preserve community resources.

Article 48A states that, the State shall endeavour to protect and improve the environment and to safeguard the forests and wildlife of the country.

However, it is not just the government, but under Article 51A(g) of Fundamental duties, each and every one of us are under constitutional and moral obligation to preserve community resources.

Article 51A(g) states that, it shall be the duty of every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life, and to have compassion for living creatures

Also, the protection of community resources is essential to safeguard the fundamental right to life and personal liberty, guaranteed by Article 21 of our constitution.

This was held by Supreme Court in its recent verdict on a plea challenging the transfer of village ponds in NCR to private industrialists by Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority.

Hence, it shall be the duty of the state as well as the duty of the every citizen to protect, preserve and carefully use the community resources.

Community Resourrces: Resources that can improve the quality life of an entire community like ponds,lakes,fresh air,pollution free environment in a particular area is known as Community Resources.
Constitutional provisions regarding to Community Resources: In chapter Fundamental Duties Article 51A(g): It is the duty of each and every citizen of our country to protect and improve natural environment examples forest,lake,rivers and wildlife and to have compassion for living creatures.
In DPSP:Article 48A State shall endevour to protect and improve environment and to safegaurd the forest and wildlife.
In Fundamental Right :Article 21 Right to life and personel liberty.
Example Right to decent environment ,Right to livlihood.
In one most important Judgement of SC Maneka Gandhi Case 1978: law should be reasonable,fair and just due process of law.
In recent Judgement of SC to Greater Noida Development Authority :Govt.has no right to transfer invaluble community resources for commercialisation for commercialisation which is the lifeline of village community.
Authorities and powerful people can not encroach upon common land and other resources.
Way Forward:It is not only the duty of govt.but also the duty of each and every citizen to protect their lifeline that no body can encroach the community resources.

I use to watch Byju's analysis everyday. Just came here since they were on holiday on Jan 1st. Now I find this analysis is better, especially the practice question analysis.
