hispanic/latino isnt a race, most hispanic are white, go to miami for example most of the people there are white but america calls them hispanic instead because they speak spanish even though spanish people in spain are white.
First off, Hispanic is a linguistic identity, but not a race. 'Mexican' is not a synonym of Hispanic or Latino. Check the ethnic diversity of that huge region. In Mexico the 65% of the population is meztizo (biracial) and the left 35% is mostly white and indigenous. However in countries like Dominical Republic, the 60% are black or black passing, some are fully black other mulatos. The rest is white or mestizo. But in countries like Argentina the 90% of the population is fully white with Spanish, French, Italian and German ancestry. The biggest Japanese community outside Japan is located in Brazil, over one million people. Also Brazil is the third country with the largest number of white people after USA and Russia, yes there are more whites in Brazil than in Germany. Over two million people in Colombia are Lebanese descendants especially in the northern region. In Countries like Guatemala and Bolivia over 50% are fully amerindian. So how are they going to address 'hispanic' or 'latino' as a single race?
A diverse nation never works if it adopts multiculturalism rather than assimilation. Historical Examples : How well did Soviet style multiculturalism work?? How well did the Ottoman initiative to adopt what was essentially a 19th Century version of multiculturalism work in the end???(BTW, this is why Kemal Ataturk went to the extreme opposite when the Turkish republic was formed.He adopted assimilation in its most extreme form as he saw multiculturalism as one of the failures of the Ottoman Empire). One of the reasons why nations like China and Russia are able to project so much unity and more power than they have is because China is relatively homogeneous (Yes minorities exist, but form less than 8 percent of the population) and while Russia is diverse, 80 percent of the population is ethnic Russian and most minorities consider themselves Russians first and foremost. There are no hyphenated Russians in Russia, be it you are from Tartarstan, Mari or Karelia. It is also important to learn from nations like France. France has long adopted assimilation as it realized that failure to do so would have led to the collapse of France during the rise of nation -states as France was made up of a diverse set of people, from the Italians of Nice, to the Germans of Alsace-Lorraine, from those of Scandinavian origin in Normandy to the so called "Gauls" of France who form much of the population at its heart to those who are of Roman origin in much of Southern France and parts of its center like Anjou and Poitou to the Gaelic people of Brittany. Were it not for Assimilation into a common French identity, all these would be Netherlands sized nation states.
It will work out and be California. California???The state with higher inequality than Mississippi and more people in poverty in absolute numbers than any other state?? If that is being used as the good example,well, time to move back to the Old World!!
I think we should call it the "tanning of America" and then see how people react! White Americans love tanning so much already, so there you go, tanning of the country will have a sexier appeal to the larger sectors in society!
