Love Vusi… very inspiring??????…but l dont know why there is always this reference to the differences in schools as in blacks schools and white schools and always an impression that the ones who identify themselves with the white schools are somehow secretly better than those who attended blacks schools…. lt feels like black people are shamefully carrying the works of the colonialist. I wonder if it is just a way for group of black people, who have somehow risen above a certain socio economic class to feel entittled and better than their counterparts who might have happened to attend all black schools. There is still the 'white is better' subconscious sublimiminary message being spread …and unfortunately this is now coming from black people spreading the message instead of uniting to fight these subconscious stereotypical messages to the masses. I wish people could embrace all social levels as people who just happen to have different amounts of money in their bank accounts than focus on highlighting what children can not change….their parents financial capabilities. ..l was born post independence Zimbabwe and the idea that anyone will be regarded as better because they sat in the same environment as white people and speak with a slightly different accent is disturbing. I see a lot of black adults who attended these schools struggling to cope when they come to Europe as that so called privilege is not recognised in Europe and those who try to highlight it are shun upon by white heritage people as they dont understand how anyone would think they are better than their own people… Post Zimbabwe emphasis was on your efforts as a child at school and not how many white people attended your school..its mind boggling that Now lm based in the UK…l find white people embrace the person and not the colour or social status…but its painful to see that we as Africans are still hung up on trying so hard to ensure that we identify ourselves as being somehow better if associated with anything white and even on social platforms like this, the subliminal emphasis is very clear…the subtle message is lurking… l was watching this post with my UK born 10 year old who wants to be an entrepreneur when she grows up and she asked me a very difficult question that l dont know how to answer even now…. l want her to love and embrace her roots as an African and THINK highly of her African roots but now when she asks me …..why do they keep saying white schools and blacks schools…. and l could see she was trying to figure out the diffrence. She goes to a UK government sch and is not aware of this difference…but the emphasis is enough for her to pick on it … that the statement holds a deeper meaning than on the surface. If a 10 year can pick on the message…. how prevalent is this going to be for the children who are trying move or change their socioeconomic statuses. Surely they will be judged just from greeting someone. …the message Feels like you are a better human being if you are black and once rubbed shoulders with white people ….you are automatically better than someone who never had that opportunity. We need to change this mindset especially if we want to raise future generations that believe in their talents and work hard to be successful in any field without creating these subconscious pre judging glass ceiling that should have remained and stayed in the colonial era – PLEASE PRESENTERS… you can surely do something about this picture you are portraying for the world to see…the world is watching and this is their only opportunity to see and hear authentic information…about the pride and resilience that comes with our heritage. The war we have to fight is greater than all this…whetherits 3 seconds of such statements….its 3 secs of my life that l have already spent on listening/reading… .let's focus on greatness and showcase our greatness… leave the colonial mindsets behind and focus on embracing peoples struggles and our heritage…THANK you for showcasing success at its finest….l have met and lived amongst many nationalities and it is only those of African descent that highly associate their English accent with class …alter accent for the purposes of being understood …l love Vusi as he seem to have grasped that concept well … well done????????
