Awesome video! Recently came upon your videos and am loving watching these. Could you do one on how to ask a new team manager if I can join his team? I thought I had a good relationship with the manager from a previous project but recently he seemed to avoid me for some reason and I don’t know why. I still want to join his team but also don’t want things to get awkward if he rejects me.
You and I are brothers. I see why I listen now. I didn't get fired but nothing great, almost physical altercation. Edit: I have strong conerns though. Being in the service made me see how ugly people get when the threat of being passed over is there. How to kill those trolls who have nothing else to do than assault you character. Ignoring them did not work for me…
Thank you so much for sharing. I quit my previous toxic job because of toxic office politics and took me a while to recover from it. thanks for this video
Hi Denis! I could have sworn that we met somewhere. When you said you were in Dubai that is when I knew that we crossed paths. Were you at AUD by any chance?
You didn't share the details of what you had done wrong to resulted in you getting fired. I feel that everything happened either good or bad has a reason or lesson to learn.
Coming from an engineering background and after working for large corporations for more than 9 years, what i have realized is: that the people who get promoted are not the top performers but those who have the strongest networks (both inside and outside of the organizations)…. What usually happens is that the better somebody performs, the more his/her boss feels envy on him/her and the more he is marginalized by the office politics….. You always need to have good connections not only with your direct boss but with managers above him as well….
A friend of mine works for a top consulting firm and the internal culture is so toxic. When there are internal trainings they encourage people to speak up however once someone speaks up he becomes a target. It looks like a trap companies try to set up to identify disruptors and then bam.
I'm an ESL/IELTS teacher in China, and I watched this video about two months ago, and after that, I started implementing the techniques. Firstly, I made sure that my students liked my classes and that everybody knew me and that I would always do those extra hours, no matter what. So, I slowly started talking to my supervisor about problems that I had noticed and that we need someone to be in charge, the second time, she asked me how to solve it, and I tried helping her. After that, I went to the Director of studies in my school and told him about the problems that I had been facing with our ESL department in our school, and he asked me if I had any solution on how to solve it. Then, yesterday I went up to the boss and said that I had been thinking about next year and what I wanted in my life. I mentioned that "I need to be able to excel, but with the current boss I'm not able to develop" so, he promoted me the head of the ESL department in my International High School.
