Um…hello from Florida! There are more cases because there is more testing being done. The fatality rates have stayed low (thank heavens) in many areas around the state though the positive test rate has increased. I am on the Space Coast. Overall things have stayed pretty calm and I am very grateful to my fellow Floridians for that. Last night many wonderful folks around my community set off fireworks and it was a really nice informal event that lasted a few hours. Every direction you looked outside you could see fireworks. It was awesome! People set off fireworks even though there was no official fireworks show. Fireworks are really a great social distancing activity when you think about it. You can see them from far away and appreciate each other for honoring Independence Day.

New cases in Florida: +9999 since 7/2/20. New deaths in Florida: 8 since 7/2/20. New tests in Florida: ~45,000 as of 7/1/20. Seems like deaths are way down, and testing is way up and new cases found by new testing is way up since so many people don't really get sick from this thing (just like the flu). Looks like the Sunshine State is running its affairs pretty well even with a whole bunch of tourists visiting its sunny shores. Um…hello from Florida! There are more cases because there is more testing being done. The fatality rates have stayed low (thank heavens) in many areas around the state though the positive test rate has increased. I am on the Space Coast. Overall things have stayed pretty calm and I am very grateful to my fellow Floridians for that. Last night many wonderful folks around my community set off fireworks and it was a really nice informal event that lasted a few hours. Every direction you looked outside you could see fireworks. It was awesome! People set off fireworks even though there was no official fireworks show. Fireworks are really a great social distancing activity when you think about it. You can see them from far away and appreciate each other for honoring Independence Day.
