China is isolating itself. How does it think it can thrive, or even survive, without markets?? True, nations cannot easily or quickly change sources for the things they buy. But, many nations are now committed to do just that. It will take time, but in a few years, China will see its exports drop significantly.
The new Cold War was started by China, although we didn't know it, several years ago. It started when China stole patents and knowledge from companies that came to invest in China. It started when China began its assault on world trade with its grab of the South China Sea. It started when China bullied and threatened Japan, Philippines, Vietnam and India, who are all our trading partners. It started when China tried to use Huawei to build a spying telecom infrastructure in our country. We just did not realize that such a large trading partner could be so ungrateful. But, the US is not alone. China has betrayed and threatened the global community of nations. For this, China will suffer the world's response. Make no mistake, this is a World/China Cold War, not a US/China Cold War.
