Not that Mahathir is perfect. Though his long disjointed rule appear as Malay rule this is furtherest from the truth. Bulk of the Malays suffer the most and are without much structured assistance.
Even the Malay kings don't really lead a kingly life. The informal real kings of Malaysia are the Chinese and Indian business magnets and thycoons who legally control enormous businesses and assets in Malaysia. A handful of Malay enterprenuers form their secondary business circle and often piggy-back on the economic dynamics created by the former two ethnics.
Though Anwar was long mentored by Tun M, he still needs further grooming and must be braced up to eventually become the PM with adequate politico-economic support structures built around him so that he can weather whatever the future storms in line throw up !
But from the angle of the poor unguided Malays their prospects for real betterment may not be rosy at all, at least in the near term !
