Virgie Tovar is an “anti diet” Fat Activist with some opinions about health and eating. Her definition of health is at: 6:52 PS: My favourite part of the video is at 8:36 …
I'm a senior. I choose what I eat, not because I'm fat phobic, but because I am diabetes-phobic and stroke-phobic and Help I've fallen and can't get up phobic! So far I'm healthy and I want to stay that way when I'm 90!
What a lot of fat people don't get is that healthy weight people don't control their eating – they eat less because they want to eat less. They're comfortable eating less because they've developed good habits and don't actually enjoy eating copious amounts of junk food. Now I'm not the thinnest guy ever, but I sure eat a heck of a lot healthier than I used to. What I started noticing after a while was that I wasn't not buying muffins and carrot cake (my fav) out of some effort to control my diet. I just – for some reason – didn't want to eat it every single day. I had actually CHANGED MY HABITS; from a diet that kept me fat and weak to one that made me mucular and strong (I gained roughly 15 pounds of muscle in my first year of college.) Yes, I agree with this lady that avoiding eating disorders is probably a good thing. But, cultivating healthy habits and promoting natural, nutrient dense food will lead to good bodily health, and hopefully good looks if your genes decide to cooperate, in the long run.
I don't want to lose weight because i want to look better, I want to lose weight to help my symptoms of PCOS, and to avoid conditions that I'm genetically predisposed to, such as diabetes. I do it for health. Although having a six pack would be hella cool, too.
Listen, I love food, I love body positivity, self love, etc. But eating bad food all the time isn't self love. You are hurting yourself. Insulting healthy or skinny people is not body positivity, it's body shaming.
This feels like those Buzzfeed videos about manspreading. The idea of thinking critically about gender roles and about how people are discriminated against for things that are variably or even entirely out of their control is a good thing. But making a mockery of the movements that seek to do accomplish those ends by embarrassingly misinterpreting the important points and presenting that information as official and educational only serves to set back such movements as people who are already skeptical are given further justification for their cynicism. I just want to say that even if Virgie is bad, that doesn't mean feminism or body-positivity are also bad, and I'd like to apologize on behalf of both movements.
I don't know why this video was suggested to me. It feels like half of the point of this video is to go against the person and not her ideas. I'm all about losing weight and being healthy but this not it. It felt like kicking someone when they're down. "It's sending a bad message to vulnerable kids"? There are a million more messages in our culture saying the exact opposite. People like Tovar should be ignored, not spread even further through hate videos like this one.
Her argument kind of reminds me of the (small and dying) wave of feminists who wanted to actively discourage all women from traditionally "feminine things" (like makeup or home making or having children) because their argument was many women were internalizing patriarchy's expectations and rejecting these expectations was the only way to reject patriarchy. And they aren't entirely wrong — it's historically obvious that women were told to pursue gendered roles. Everything from toys to styles of education are intended to reinforce those gender roles. But there is a big difference in saying internalized sexism might be a factor and saying that women actually don't like feminine things and they do this just to reinforce the patriarchy. I'm a feminist who wears makeup and really wants kids and likes cooking and domestic shit (I also like martial arts and I study math and I'm really into politics) … because I am a multi dimensional human being who is able to challenge whether my choices are based in what I want or what people expect of me. And most feminists I know like makeup and cooking and all sorts of "girly stuff" in addition to "manly stuff". That's because choosing a path dominant society agrees with does not mean it always done because of the dominant society. Sometimes people have other legitimate reasons and sometimes that's just what they want.
Yeaaah, that’s a no for me. I’m sorry if I seem “fAtPhObIc” but I’m not gonna take health advice from someone who is morbidly obese and who looks like that. She just sounds like an insecure woman trying to control what others do with their bodies just so she can feel better about hers.
Wait a second, she started this because someone was like “hey you’re taking a kinda big slice, can you not so everyone else can have cake.” LIKE BITCH THATS NOT ABOUT YOUR BODY LET EVERYONE ELSE HAVE SOME CAKE
I mean like I’m accepting off all body types and think you should accept your body. But like if you want to try to have healthier eating habits. Especially if you want to not have problems in the future.
LOL, thank you…it was so much fun watching a grown woman behave like a toddler. ME WANT, ME WANT NOW. and she is partly right: we should all eat just as much as… we need (not want!). Dieting should not be about willpower and starvation, it should be about learning to take really good care of our own special body. Feeding it nutritious food, not shoving empty calories. Because the pleasure-centre of the brain is almost unsatiable, go for the other parts of your sytem that tell you "yea, this good nosh".
I’m fat (lost 26 lbs recently though) and I prefer a smaller piece of cake because the sweetness is overwhelming to me, I’m not trying to be superior I’m just not that into cake
Being skinny is ok. Chubby too. But if you are obese you have to lose weight because obesity is dangerous for your health. Food has limitations, you can't eat food like Nikocado Avocado does. Everything has a limit, water too. You can't drink 20 glasses a day. Skinny or fat, eating fast food often is bad for weight and health. And you should put some healthy food in your mouth sometimes.

Tell Virgie, "Gluttony is a sin"

I wouldn't want any slice of that disgusting cake.
Her skin looks so greasy and mushy, no offense but, god that's a lot of grease.
Those dislikes seem Heavy

Sorry to say this but this woman's face looks like a butt
damn she roasted her in a smart way

They are literally grotesque ?
This is some real low hanging fruit…
“Oh uhm can I have a smaller piece of cake-“
“YOU MISOGYNISTIC RACIST SEXIST POS YOU FAT-PHOBIC FREAK”
bRuh I was watching “Supersize vs Superskinny”
I was watching the scene where they were introducing the morbidly obese, and they say that she was 21
I thought she was in her 40s-50s
???
9:24 That was terrifying. The lighting and the glare of her glasses made it look like she had no eyeballs and they were just empty red sockets.
Maybe the lady was controlling how much cake everyone got to make sure there was enough for every person. Idk. Just a thought.
If the title of that article was “No, I Won’t Cut MYSELF A Smaller Slice of Cake” then I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
She’s right. You do have the right to remain fat. Just like how I have the right to not remain fat (lose weight).

I can’t eat loads of cake, only a tiny amount as I will feel sick otherwise as it’s soo sweet
So, according to her logic, It would´t matter if I had cancer (which I don't, it's just an example), as long as I love myself I will be fine. Sure…
Kids eat your fruit and veggies.. it’s important.
Does anyone know where I can find that cake video at 03:08 ?
Girl, these drug addicts like Tovar are all narcissists, logic doesn't register on their brains.
Where does this fat positive lady get this foolishness from??? It makes absolutely NO. SENSE!

You absolutely have the right to be fat.
You don't have the right to tell people to eat deadly garbage.
Its all fun and games until someone develops diabetes
Oh fuck, a pc sjw styled fat acceptance spokeswoman. That's terrifying…
Year her down, Kiana!
Quien en su sano juicio le haria caso a esta mujer
Funniest thing is , most people watch her to get more into their diet lmao
I wonder if tobacco companies that now own the processed food corporations pay her to say this stuff
Surprised she isn't happy that people taking smaller slices mean more cake for her
Wait a second, she started this because someone was like “hey you’re taking a kinda big slice, can you not so everyone else can have cake.” LIKE BITCH THATS NOT ABOUT YOUR BODY LET EVERYONE ELSE HAVE SOME CAKE

I love food but I don't know what it is about cake. It feels like eating cushion foam.
I feel like Virgie has no idea that binge eating disorder is a thing
I’m fat (lost 26 lbs recently though) and I prefer a smaller piece of cake because the sweetness is overwhelming to me, I’m not trying to be superior I’m just not that into cake
Fuck all fat people who think they are special. No you are one pathetic human beings who are lazy as fuck.
The only woman in that dance intro that looks good is the black woman in the back. She's is rocking that purple lipstick

Skinny or fat, eating fast food often is bad for weight and health. And you should put some healthy food in your mouth sometimes.
She is in every sense of the word 'hideous'.
Edna looks different here
Alguém aqui já viu Wall-E? Era uma previsão do futuro? ?
Kiana is waaay looks healthier than Virgie. Why I should listen to Virgie?
