A Total War Saga: Troy has had been on rocky ground throughout development. From Total War Saga: Troy’s campaign map to battles, the economy, gods and …
It's FINALLY HERE ladies and gents. From Total War Saga: Troy's campaign map to battles, the economy, gods and mechanics, is the game worth getting? Let me know what you think in the comments!
The game is pretty imbalanced. I would say that the Greeks have a significant advantage as they have quicker access to chariots. Also, siege battles are harder because there is no artillery or magic to deal with. I wouldn't say the ai is all that much better than Warhammers, just slightly improved and I think the only reason that is; is there is way less difference in the factions.
In Thrones of Britannia your newly formed units started with less than half "health," and it took several turns before it was full. I really liked this, as it meant both you and the AI couldn't produce doom stacks out of thin air in one round. What's it like in Troy?
Biggest downside with the game is the battles and diplomacy. The battles itself, the charging or attacking is just flawed. When flanking or attacking enemies they just fly away, there is no impact at all. Rome 2 with mods and gods have more impact. Even Attilla has more impact when charging and flanking enemies. You can see them being crushed.
Diplomacy well they just want to demand stuff and you can't really work to be friendly. After all, the whole purpose is to unite all nations to attack Troy. Not Sparta itself attacking Troy.
I surprised you liked the UI. I agree on the functional parts but I really dislike having icons in place pictures. It's un-immersive Along with no population, weak culture mechanics, etc, it encourages the player to treat cities like menus.
The AI seems to have a food glitch. Most of the AI have over 20k supply of food that never seems to get depleted, so enemies are able to spam lots of armies with decent troops, even if my troops are higher tier it makes no difference when fighting army after army. This seems to be a glitch as I found one article that mentioned it.
Was skeptical of this game, but I have to say I really like it. It isn't perfect, but I think some things can be fine tuned in patches. Getting it for free was an AMAZING deal too, because i would actually pay for this ($50 or $60), but I may not have bought it due to pre-release skepticism. Honestly, best diplomacy I have experienced in a TW game personally (region trading as well). I like multiple resources, even though it can be challenging to maintain. It does give you more reasons for taking regions though just based on resources. I recommend this TW game. For a spin-off its pretty damn good.
my biggest problem with this game is the end game unit balancing, Troy end game units are FAR superior to Sparta end game units. (troy : unbreakable high armor and melee defences, basically tanks, and archers with 185 range) (Sparta high armour piercing best missile unit is a slinger :/) i have to bring 2 full end game stacks to take on one end game stack from troy
Saga "GAMES"…yeah no they had one saga it was Thrones of Brittania and now they have Troy. They only retroactively went back and called Fall of the Samurai a saga…for no reason.
I like the game a lot, but a major critique I have is the hero’s health bar is wayyyyyyy to much. I can’t kill any hero’s and they just run off and route. I have played with Agamemnon for 12 or so hours so far and I haven’t deafened one enemy hero yet. I know he’s not a fighter and more of a defender, but come on. I will throw 2-3 units at a hero along with Agamemnon and by the time the battle is over the enemy hero is at like 50% and routes the map even when I chase them down. What’s the deal with that? Big critique, but besides that. The game is great!
I have suspicions game is becoming too arcadish… graphics looks fresh but that's only because now game is full childmode and all in it became plastic toys and even worse that the breathtaking atmosphere of TOTAL WAR is gone. Of course Troy will take its niche but never it will neither win the respect that the Shogun, Medieval or Empire TWs had, nor gain general recognition and gain a foothold in high positions.
they have DLC programmed (or cut from the game) for every month of the rest of the year, plus they using DENUBO DRM….., so no, wont get it i am tired of The games industry predatory tactics
I still ran into some weird pathing issues when giving orders to units. Also the A.I. does tend to play it more safe in this game. They play conservatively which throws a wrench in a lot of battle plans. Feels more like playing a person.
The combat does feel pretty slow but not at the rate of Rome 2

I was going to get the game but my house was hit by lightning so the internet went down so that sucks

"Most battles last less than 10 minutes." That's why I still play Medieval 2.

Does the music sound like Rome 2 to anyone else?

that review didnt feel very objective atall, felt very much like an utter promotion of the title, despite you saying it's just a pitstop.
Well done review
great review doode
Truth behind the myth, but lost me when they thought Helen always wore clown make up.
Saga "GAMES"…yeah no they had one saga it was Thrones of Brittania and now they have Troy. They only retroactively went back and called Fall of the Samurai a saga…for no reason.
Great video as always mate left a big like! Keep up the hard work buddy! Hopefully I can grow my channel like yours haha! ???
Total war on console ? How's that going to work . Lol
Total war saga series "smaller than a full game" Shit is the same price of a full game, what are you trying to say?
"Truth behind the myth" is an intelligent and rational decision.
Seriously? Another epic store exclusive? I though we were past this. Looks like this is another game going into the boycott category.
Given that this series is a lot about the mythical heroes, I think it could have benefitted from using the duel mechanic from TW3K

little cav makes a huge difference. not having too baby sit cav the entire fight is nice.
Best review I've seen and I feel it's very fair and honest. Well done

More like Toy War not the Total War…
Just a comment, the microphone audio bothered me a bit. Every time you stop talking it goes so quiet. Maybe add some sort of background noise?
Combat animation is the worse in the series. Worse even than medieval 2 which had sync kills while this does not at ALL
It has no multiplayer?
I’m a new player I have Rome 2 but I’m not great at the campaign and I usually did custom battles. Can you do a tips video?
they have DLC programmed (or cut from the game) for every month of the rest of the year, plus they using DENUBO DRM….., so no, wont get it i am tired of The games industry predatory tactics
i gotta say, i think this might be my favorite total war! now waiting for a full bronze age total war…
Why hasn’t anyone mention the lack of shield wall formations i.e. turtle formation, spear wall formation etc??
"saga" but at full price
I really have been enjoying the colony system and playing as sparta. Friendly Ai is super annoying asking for resources or shitty deals every turn
I'm loving the game so far, alot better than the previews I think.
i need the resource system in wh3
I really would like to see hero units and generals separated into two categories. Just like chess, there are the king and the queen.

Its on steam too… Maybe time exclusive?
