hello! that was a pretty nice video but i can't help myself from noting some misconceptions-mistakes. First, there were not many different tribes but only one: the greek tribe. Thessalian, Epirots, Macedonians, Athenians or Spartans etc were all Greek people and although there were political autonomous subgroups they all belonged to the same greek ethnicity. As for the language, yes they had different dialects (which are maintained until today) but of the same greek language! They could all undertstand easily each other. Secondly, leagues never got lost from history. Greek people were always spread in local districts such as pelloponisos or thrace. These districts exist until today (modern greece has 9 political districts included attica, macedonia etc) and they played a significant role in maintaining greek ethnicity throughout history. Districts often maintain their own dialects, traditions but all share the same identity, religion and of course history..! keep up with the good work and i will catch on the next one 🙂
Some of the many sources: 1: ''Go ahead, children of greece, save the country, save your children, save your wives, your sacred fathers' gods, your ancestors graves, now it's the fight''. Aeschylus <The Persians>.
2: ''We live on this land without having someone banished, neither we found this land empty and we colonised it, neither we are biracial but we exist aright because we own the land which we were born in and we have been living thoughout our entire history, since we are indigenous…'' Isocrates <Panegyricus 24>.
I love these kind of videos but I feel the need to point this out. People need to stop (at least when they write something about Greece) using the letter Σ as an E because Σ is the greek letter for S so every time I read texts like these I feel like my eyes are gonna pop out trying to make sense of them.
Nice video and thank you for the content however i must say that the pronunciation is really really wrong in almost every greek word . I am a greek . Thank you for the great content
The most developed most progressive civilization in history is Greek civilization. Pioneers of modern science came from there. Aristotle, Archimedes, Pythagoras, Thales of Miletus. This period, one of the best attractive subjects in historical research and studies.
Seeing as how Kings and Generals is sponsored by Imperator: Rome (amongst others) it would be cool to see the various types of Greek leagues represented in that game as well! Its actually quite similar to some of the Stellaris federations.
ok the omega letter used is grammatically Wrong , also the pronunciation is totally wrong ,is not K-O-I-N-E is K-I-N-I , I hear it all the time when non Greek speakers use the Greek language specially from Academics , well ok is up to anyone to say it as they please but do not do it for content that actually is educating people such as this video (btw excellent job if I exclude my initial problem with the grammar and pronunciation), greetings from Greece and Cyprus 🙂
A small correction all the Greeks belong to the same ethnos(έθνος) which means nation but there were smaller groups called fillo(φύλο) which means something like tribe.
How much did the Mainland Greeks keep in touch with their cousins who travelled across the sea? Like Syracuse, or Mesallia, or the Greeks in Italy. Did these far off Greek states send people to the Olympics or to ask the Oracle of Delphi questions? Or would they just bring their own version to their new homes?

they played in there small leagues till the Turks arrived and started the champions league
It is written "koina" but it is pronounced "kena" In Greek..
Excellent work although! Greetings from Greece??
MALAKA!!!
You should really tone down with the loud sound effects. I find them useless and very distracting.
Make one on Indus civilization
Why make this about slaver nations, show some great slave free like the Mali Empire.
You are a historic channel! Stop using Σ as E and Ω as Ο in Greek. It's ΚΟΙΝΑ, not ΚΩΙΝΑ. It's FEDERATIONS, not FΣDΣRATIΩNS. Be better than Hollywood!
Σ is S, not E. Ω O but not everywhere. Λ is L, not A.
The pronounce of Greek words is bad….
Crazy how these people went extinct.
So would the US and NATO be the modern equivalent of Athens and the Delian League? US seems to be a hegemony
something oddly satisfying hearing a Brit advertise Independence Day promotion. hehehe
Fantastic content. Well done all around. This is why you've got 1.32M subscribers.
What happen to Crete during this time?

I may be wrong,but I believe Corinth was destroyed in 146BC
If you where gay in ancient hellas "κίναιδος" moving shame
These where the penalties
banned from becoming a member of the council of nine;
was banned from standing for elections as a priest;
was banned from being a citizen’s advocate;
was not allowed to exercise power in or outside the city
was not permitted to be sent an emissary of war;
was banned from expressing his opinions;
was banned from entering public temples;
was banned from being wreathed in races;
was not allowed to enter the agora.

Didn’t Mycenaean Greece also form certain leagues or am I mistaken?
Everyone's fooling around till Romans step in to sort things up. Gotta love that nation, there's a reason it existed for almost 2 millenniums.
It's pronounced like kena, not coin-a, my ears…
0:55 Errrm would not happen.

Do Dacia
Excellent documentary.I would like to do a small correction.Corinth was destroyed by the Romans in 146 B.C. and not in 148 B.C.
This is my favourite video of yours yet! Fantastic job and great explanations!

Great work, as always. Looking forward to more Roman economic episodes!
In Blitz, does anybody know how to change where you are fighting? Love the video!

Not “Greek”… but “Hellenic”.
Looking at the thumbnail, watching tanks flying around.
Thinking – "I didn't know they had tanks in ancient Greece."
The first NATO……
