Drawing on her personal path from indifferent citizen to passionate campaigner, Victoria Bonney implores us to examine the ways citizens and elected officials …
Politicians and corporations once thought they could use social media to rig elections and information. However, social media also has the power to mobilize revolutions and overthrow governmental systems. Incredible times we're living in where you can't control all of the information the public receives. Worldwide protests…a very interesting time we're living in.
Trump did not begin the policy of separating children from their parents at the border. Please do your research. Secondly, there are legitimate reasons for keeping children in a separate area from adults, namely abuse at the hands of strangers. Many of the people showing up at the border don’t bring their own children, but use someone else’s as a reason to enter the United States. If you want porous border security, at least be honest about it. I can guarantee that if 85% of immigrants were registering as Republican, you would want a border wall 100 feet tall.
I agree that social media does help politicians be more relatable. But social media also helps them alter the way we see things. We only see what they want us to see. Just like filters and certain angles that make you look better in a picture. There is no way to know what you are seeing or hearing on social media is actually "real"
Hi Bonny – great talk… Unfortunately social media had the chance to be the "great equalizer"- the "level playing field" in elections – but instead, they (FB TW) decided to become commercial television (pay for play) on our computers and phones. Money (paid advertising) rules elections because we voters do not have a place to organize and manage our vote. Until now! I built a tool (an interactive sample ballot) that rests on an online/mobile voter information platform that truly is the "level playing field" in elections. And, that does allow a voter to (finally) organize and manage their vote. I'd happy to demo the site for you – I think this platform (WinMyVote.com) will change elections for the better. jg

Thanks to social media, US Government is becoming more accountable. God Bless America and God Bless Donald Trump!
