A 55-year-old Delray Beach woman awoke to find her husband stabbing her in the arms with a 9-inch-steak knife, police said.

Police responded at 1:55 a.m. Sunday after a woman called to report that her husband had stabbed her while she was sleeping in their home in the 900 block of Southwest 10th Avenue, according to a Delray Beach police arrest report.

Officers went to the house and met with the suspect, Sephnie Reid, 61, who said he and his wife were arguing and that she threatened to kick him out of the house.

Asked if he used a knife during the dispute, Reid said, “Yeah, I used the knife, it’s on the table,” according to the report.

The victim, who was treated at Delray Medical Center, said she was in bed sleeping when she felt somebody on top of her. When she covered her face with her arms, Reid started stabbing her arms, the report stated.

The woman said Reid had recently suffered a stroke and had been facing mental health issues, according to the arrest report.

Reid, who remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail on Monday, faces charges of aggravated battery and false imprisonment, according to the Sheriff’s Office booking blotter.
