Secret Spot yacht captain, girlfriend, man plead guilty to October cocaine smuggling


Prosecutor: Captain, girlfriend had made multiple cocaine importation trips

The captain of the mega-yacht Secret Spot pleaded guilty Friday to smuggling cocaine by way of the vessel from the Bahamas to West Palm Beach in October.

Jon Costenbader, 34, pleaded guilty to a federal charge of conspiracy to import more than 5 kilograms of cocaine. His girlfriend Michelle Daniel, 33, pleaded guilty to the same charge.

After agents caught Costenbader unloading the cocaine at the Palm Harbor Marina, they had him help in a controlled delivery to Steve Davis, 26. Davis pleaded guilty Friday to a federal charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute more than 5 kilograms of cocaine, according to court documents.

Costenbader, Daniel and Davis are scheduled for sentencing hearings in February.

Federal authorities have said in previous court hearings the Oct. 6 trip was not the first for Costenbader and Daniel.
