Port St. Lucie Police: Man who robbed Walgreens arrested

A Port St. Lucie man was arrested Monday afternoon by police after a Walgreens robbery.

Daniel Downs, 26, faces charges of robbery without a weapon, grant theft and simple assault for threatening the life of an employee for the incident that happened Feb. 1. Authorities were able to find Downs because he left a full hand print on the counter.

Catherine Reynolds, the assistant manager of the Walgreens off of SW Port St. Lucie Blvd. and SW Tulip Blvd., said she was stocking the cigarettes when she heard someone say, “Give me your money or I’ll kill you.”

When she turned around, there was a masked male on the other side of the counter.

She told officers she didn’t see a gun, but Downs was holding his right hand in the right pocket of his hoodie and motioning like he had one.
