A young suspect apparently in need of a quick infusion of holiday cash was caught red-handed early Thursday when Miami Gardens Police arrived at a Shell gas station to see the armed gentleman stuffing money in his clothes.

He ran, but police ran faster and nabbed him, charging him with one count of armed robbery of a commercial establishment.

They got the cash back.

Here’s what happened, according to Miami Gardens Police:

Around 5:40 a.m., police responded to an alarm at the Shell Gas Station, 17080 NW Seventh Ave.

According to 911 callers, a man was seen with a gun inside the station.

When officers arrived, they saw a suspect in front of the store with a gun in his hand attempting to conceal money inside his clothing.

The man attempted to flee, but police caught him after a short foot chase. The money was recovered.

Police later identified the would-be thief as 22-year-old Johnny Love.
