Charges upgraded against Florida man accused of shooting wife, posting photo of corpse on Facebook

Charges against a Florida man accused of shooting his wife dead before posting a photo of her corpse on Facebook have been upgraded to first-degree murder.

Derek Medina, 31, initally faced charges of second-degree murder before a South Miami judge updated them on Monday, NBC Miami reports.

Medina has been held behind bars since the body of his 26-year-old wife Jennifer Alfonso, pictured with him here, was found slain in their shared home in August.

Prosecutors said Medina fatally shot Alfonso during an argument as their 10-year-old daughter was upstairs.

“I’m going to prison or death sentence for killing my wife. Love you guys. Miss you guys. Take care. Facebook people you’ll see me in the news,” he allegedly wrote immediately after on Facebook whileo sharing a photo of her corpse.

“My wife was punching me and I am not going to stand anymore with the abuse so I did what I did I hope u understand me,” he allegedly added.
