Boca Police ask for help in finding Wendy’s robber

Boca Raton Police officers are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who held up a local Wendy’s and left with cash.

The strong-arm robbery happened Dec. 12 around 8:20 p.m. at the Wendy’s at 831 W. Yamato Road, near Congress Avenue.

An employee told police the man was waiting in line to place an order and allowed a customer to go ahead of him. The man waited several minutes before approaching the counter and then placed his order. He paid with cash. The employee opened the cash register and the man reached over and grabbed the cash from the register.

The restaurant employee tried pushing the man away but he was able to get out of the store and into a brown four-door sedan. The car might be a Toyota Corolla. It was seen driving west on Yamato Road.

Police described the robber as a black man in his mid 20s. He is about 5-foot-7 and has a slim build. He was wearing a blue, long sleeve T-shirt, black pants and a blue hat with a white brim. The hat had “New York” written on it.

Anyone with information is asked to call Boca Raton Police Det. Jeff Clare at (561) 338-1246 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 458-TIPS.
