Immigrants ashore Singer Island

Nine people are in custody, suspected of trying to enter the country illegally at Singer Island before dawn Tuesday, said U.S. Border Patrol Operations Officer Frank Miller.

“We had a pursuit with this boat as it was coming ashore,” said Miller, who said that ended about 3:30 a.m. While nine people are in custody, authorities are searching for others, he said. The boat has been seized.

Just Monday, authorities took at least eight Haitians into custody after they were believed to have come ashore illegally before dawn on Palm Beach.
